Algeria plans customs duties of 60-200 percent on finished goods




(MENAFN) Algeria was revealed to be considering customs duties of 60-200 percent on finished goods, establishing new revenues so as to tackle lower energy profits.

In its official document, the Algerian government said "the list of products ... will be specified by regulation."

Authorities plan to create a committee that includes ministers in order to decide on the list of goods and duties applied, as Reuters was informed by an official.

The document also explained that the move "is part of the protection and defense of national production ... against massive imports that are detrimental to the economy."
