Mwasalat on Monday announced increase in daily trips on the Muscat-Salalah route to seven from three to cater to the tourist rush during the khareef season.
The service will be available from June 21 to August 22. A total of 700 seats (round trips) will be available in a day.
Mwasalat is offering special discounts for families and on group reservations, in addition to free tickets for children under two years.
It said that the special packages will encourage more families to visit Oman's southern governorate. 'The aim is to boost tourism and economic activities in the sultanate by encouraging more people to use public transport,' Mwasalat said.
It also announced the start of a service on a new line - Dhofar - Salalah Airport - Sahl Ittin - City Centre (Route No 21). The national transport company also added more points on the existing Salalah Airport - City Centre - Port of Salalah line (Route No 20).
The Route No 21 will follow Salalah Airport - Sahl Ittin Roundabout - Salalah Municipality Recreation Centre Park 1 - Salalah Municipality Recreation Centre Park 2 - Al Nama Street-Sultan Qaboos Hospital - Salalah Western - Directorate General for Housing - Al Ittihad Sports Club - Sultan Qaboos Mosque - 23rd
