Australia reports record trade surplus in Q1

(MENAFN) Australia has posted a record first-quarter trade surplus, with rising commodity prices helping to boost the value of exports.

In seasonally adjusted terms, figures from the Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS) showed that the country has recorded a surplus of USD3.48 billion in March, bringing the total count for the first quarter to USD9.99 billion.

The ABS said: "For the March quarter 2019, there was a fall of 0.1 percent in seasonally adjusted volume terms."

"This follows a relatively unchanged, (0.0 percent) result in the December quarter 2018," it added.
