Middle Corridor To Become Crucial Part Of Global Supply Chain In Foreseeable Future - Chinese Analyst


(MENAFN- Trend News Agency) BAKU, Azerbaijan, April 26. The Trans-CaspianInternational Transport Route (TITR, or Middle Corridor) willbecome a crucial part of the global supply chain for theforeseeable future, Ding Jianwei, Senior Fellow of the ChineseTaihe Institute, told Trend .

"In the foreseeable future, the Trans-Caspian InternationalTransport Route will enter a new cycle of accelerated developmentand become a new major trade route in Eurasia, an important part ofthe global supply chain. More and more countries will participatein this transport route, and the volume of freight traffic willincrease significantly," he said.

At the same time, according to Ding Jianwei, the futuredevelopment of the Middle Corridor will not be smooth and will facemany risks and challenges.

"It will inevitably be influenced by geopolitics, especially byvarious forces that are focused on the corridor of their owngeopolitical ambitions. The battle for dominance will intensify,"he noted.

The Middle Corridor is a transportation and trade route thatconnects Asia and Europe, passing through several countries in theregion. It is an alternative route to the traditional NorthernCorridor and Southern Corridor.

The route starts in China and crosses Central Asian countriessuch as Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, and Turkmenistan. It then passesthrough the Caspian Sea, Azerbaijan, Georgia, and Türkiye beforereaching Europe.

The Middle Corridor offers a land route that connects theeastern parts of Asia, including China, with Europe, bypassing thelonger maritime routes.
