Iran sentences ex-vice president 15 years in jail

(MENAFN) Despite being charged USD9.9 million for being involved in mass corruptions during his era, former Iranian Vice President Hamid Baghaei was sentenced to 15 years in jail, according to Bas News.

On Tuesday, Iranian court has issued the sentence for Baghaei who was one of the closest friends of former Iranian president Mahmud Ahmadinajad.

A source said that he has been transferred to a jail in Tehran, capital city of Iran.

Hamid Baghaei is an Iranian politician and former intelligence officer who entered the administration in 2006 as deputy of Esfandiar Rahim Mashaei in the Cultural Heritage, Handcrafts and Tourism Organization. In 2011, he simultaneously held the position of vice president in charge of executive affairs and headed the presidential administration.
