Things to do this weekend in Qatar (July 11-13, 2019)

National Tourism Council has lined up quite a few activities to ensure that every weekend of Summer in Qatar is filled with various options for you to choose from. Meanwhile, this is probably the last weekend for Summer Entertainment City, until and unless the organisers decide to extend it further into the summer. So, head out and have a fun weekend ahead.    

Qatar Cultural and Literature Festival 
Indian musicians and top writers are in Doha this weekend for the first edition of QCLF. Indian singer Mika Singh, author Chetan Bhagat, actor/poet Piyush Mishra, acid attack survivor and social activist Laxmi Agarwal will all be in Katara for the festival. Apart from music and cultural shows, there will be panel discussions and poetry reading session.

Doha Comedy Festival 

Promising a laughter riot, Doha Comedy Festival is upon us this weekend. World-renowned comedians Trevor Noah will perform at QNCC tomorrow while Omid Djalili and Arab stand-ups Nemr and Hamad Al-Amari will take to stage on August 15. With tickets ranging from 175 to 475, the show is only for those above 13 years of age.

Jungle (Roaming act)
This weekend Summer in Qatar in schedule has included a roaming act called Jungle that will travel across all malls in the next three days. Starting today - the act will be presented at Doha Festival City at 3:30pm, then heading towards Tawar Mall at 6pm and presenting its last act at 9pm in Landmark. Tomorrow, the roaming act will head to Mall of Qatar (2:30pm), The Mall (5pm), Mirqab Mall (7pm), and Hyatt Plaza (9:30 pm) and then on Saturday at Al Khor Mall (3:30pm), Lagoona Mall (6pm) and Gulf Mall (9pm). The colourful show on the theme of forest promises to be a fun and must-watch especially for kids.

American Show
Love humming to country music? Head to Ooredoo stage at the Mall of Qatar oasis where an American Band will perform the best pop, rock and country music at the American Show. What's more, head to MOQ and sing along!

Ice Age (meet and greet)
Fans of all ages will get to meet and greet the Ice Age characters from the movie in malls across Doha. The characters will be present on July 11 at Gulf Mall (3:30pm), Lagoona Mall (6pm), and Al Khor Mall (9pm); on July 12 at Landmark Mall (3:30pm), Tawar Mall (6pm) and Doha Festival City (9pm); and then on July 13 at Hyatt Plaza (3:30pm), Al Mirqab Mall (6pm), and  Mall of Qatar (9pm).

Exhibitions at Katara 
If art is your forte, then head to Katara building number 18 and 19 as three exhibitions are lined up at the Cultural hub of Qatar. Land of the Dark Exhibition, Cricket Exhibition and Portrait Exhibition are ongoing this weekend.

NMOQ craft workshop
A four-day workshop on the craft of rope making - an ancient dying craft will be revived through this event as participants get a chance to make nature friendly products such as rope bags, photograme and decoration for pottery. This is part of a series of workshop that the National Museum will host for summer. The event is open for those above 14 years of age and can be availed at a fee of QR250.

Summer Entertainment City 2019
Giant mascots of "We Bare Bears" and Coco the Clown will be at Summer Entertainment City this weekend. The Virtual Reality and Gaming zone has some of the world's most advanced VR simulators, gaming stations and themed gaming areas for various ages spread on a 6,000sqm area, which is more than seven times bigger than last year.
They also have retro-gaming area for people 35 years old and above as well who can actually connect with games like Pac-Man, Atari and Sega. 
The main areas include amusement rides, skills games with prizes, trampoline park, a kids driving school setup, Qatar's first InflataPark, the world's largest bounce castle, a skate park, synthetic ice skating, Spider Climbing tower.
Ticket prices range from QR15 QR entry to the SEC, or visitors can purchase Gold Pass for QR165, Gaming Pass for QR165, Season Pass for QR999 or Season Gaming Pass for QR1,250.
