Embassy Of India, Baku Showcases Indian Textile Excellence At“Weaving Wonders With Threads Of Opportunity” Trade Event (PHOTO)


(MENAFN- Trend News Agency) The Embassy of India in Baku hosted a focussed trade event,“Weaving Wonders with Threads of Opportunity: Unveiling India'sTextile Treasures,” on 24 April 2024. This event aimed tostrengthen the Indian textile industry's presence amongAzerbaijan's key business people and textile importers.

Mr. Sridharan Madhusudhanan, Ambassador of India to Azerbaijan,addressed the event attendees. He highlighted the global reputationand increasing demand for Indian textiles and underscored theintegration of cutting-edge technology and innovative designswithin India's textile manufacturing sector.

Additionally, Mr. Sanjay Jain, Counsellor, provided an in-depthanalysis of the strengths and competitive advantages of Indiantextiles in the international arena and their relevance to theAzerbaijan market.

India, the world's largest producer of cotton and jute and thesecond-largest producer of silk and man-made fibres plays a vitalrole in the global textile market. In 2022, India's textile exportssurged to USD 44 billion, with man-made fibre (MMF) textilesreaching USD 6.8 billion. The leading importers of India's MMFtextiles include the USA, Turkiye, UAE, Bangladesh, Brazil, SriLanka, Egypt, Germany, Italy, and Belgium.

The event showcased the superior quality of both cotton andsynthetic Indian fabrics, emphasising the cost-effectiveness andtechnological advancement that characterise India's textileofferings.

The gathering was well attended by importers and representativesfrom major Azerbaijani textile businesses, demonstrating a keeninterest in Indian textile products. The event concluded with avibrant Q&A session, during which Embassy officials reiteratedtheir commitment to providing comprehensive support for Azerbaijanitextile importers and distributors for their import initiativesfrom India. Participants from Azerbaijan shared their positiveexperiences and satisfaction with the quality of textile productssourced from Indian manufacturers, highlighting the mutual benefitsand promising growth potential for both nations in this sector.
