Turkey issues arrest warrant for 1,112 FETO suspects

(MENAFN) Turkey's state-run news agency says authorities have released arrest warrants for 1,112 people suspected of connections with U.S.-based Muslim cleric who is responsible by Ankara for a failed coup attempt in 2016.

Anadolu Agency affirms the warrants were released Tuesday as part of a probe into supposed cheating in an exam in 2010 that enabled police officers to become deputy police inspectors. Prosecutors say questions were given to followers of cleric Fethullah Gulen before the exam.

Anadolu states police launched concurrent operations in the capital Ankara and 75 provinces.

The operation was one of the largest against Gulen's network since the coup try. Some 77,000 people have been detained and approximately 130,000 others have been kicked out from state jobs since the coup.
