Kuwaiti Environmental Lens Announces Greater Spotted Eagle's Arrival

KUWAIT, Jan 22 (KUNA) -- Kuwaiti Environmental Lens Team reported on Sunday arrival of the Greater Spotted Eagle from Russia to Al-Jahra Nature Reserve.
Board member of the team, Omar Al-Sayed Omar, told KUNA that it is the first time Kuwait tracks an endangered bird and revealed that the spotted eagles migrate to Russia during their breeding season.
Omar said there was a DNA test on one of these eagles that revealed the bird was a female, adding that it might had nested in southern Russia.
He added that with support of KFAS (Kuwait Foundation for Advancement of Sciences) and the Environment Public Authority, the team carried out this test on six eagles of the same species. (end) zak.ahm
