Sudanese Leader chooses top prosecutor to lead commission of RSF war crimes

(MENAFN) A top prosecutor was chosen by Sudanese Leader Abdelfattah al-Burhan on Friday to lead the commission looking into infractions and war crimes committed by the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF).

The head prosecutor, whose name has not yet been released, has been chosen to head the probe, according to the press office of the Sudanese Sovereignty Council.

Al-Burhan made the decision to form a committee last week to gather evidence of "violations and war crimes" committed by the RSF.

A couple of months have passed without a cease-fire, and both sides continue to blame one another of conflict crimes and abuses of human rights.

The RSF had to be fully incorporated into the army within two years, according to the Sudanese army, which viewed the paramilitary organization as a threat due to its prior support but parallel operations as an independent force.

The RSF stated that it might approve the procedure over a ten-year period. On April 15 in Khartoum along with other places, the sides were engaged in an armed confrontation as a result of their verbal and emotional struggle.

Over 3,000 people have been murdered and tens of thousands were wounded as a result of the violent continuous clashes, particularly in Khartoum and the adjacent areas in addition to the western towns.
