Dr Jan Zwar worked as a Postdoctoral Fellow on the Australian Research Council project 'The Australian book industry: Authors, publishers and readers in a time of change' led by Professor David Throsby ( with sub-projects including national surveys of Australian authors and book readers, and a study of innovative Australian book publishers. In 2015 she served as a member of the judging panel for the business stream of the Australian Book industry Awards and in 2013 she assisted the Book Industry Collaborative Council in drafting their final report on the future of Australia's book industry. She has recently concluded a research project led by Dr Paul Crosby, Macquarie University, on international rights sales of Australian-authored books, funded by the Australia Council for the Arts and the Copyright Agency. Dr Zwar's research is conducted in addition to her role as Faculty Research Manager, Faculty of Arts at Macquarie University, where she supports the contribution of books and ideas to Australia's social, cultural and intellectual life in other ways.
