(MENAFN- Tribal News Network) PESHAWAR: Two soldiers were martyred while eight others were injured in an attack on the security forces in South Waziristan tribal district on Monday.
Sources said a convoy of the security forces was attacked at Wana Bypass Road near Speen Jumaat in which two soldiers were martyred, while eight others were injured.
The martyred soldiers included Naib Subedar Siraj and Sepoy Shams, while the injured included Lance Naiks Nadeem, Meer Mohammad, Saqib, Zahid, Syed Mohammad, and Sepoys Salar, Khalid and Safdar.
The deceased and injured soldiers were shifted to hospital and a search operation was launched in the entire area. However, there was no word about any arrest.
Militants were driven out from the tribal districts in military operations, but still terrorists sometimes attack the security forces from their leftover hideouts. The security forces also conduct IBOs after receiving credible information about presence of militants to ward off any threat of attacks.
On February 12, four soldiers were martyred in an attack by terrorists on a security forces post in South Waziristan.
According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the security forces responded promptly to the attack and killed four of the attackers during the raid in the Makeen area.
The martyred soldiers were identified as Lance Naik Imran Ali, Sepoy Atif Jahangir, Sepoy Aneesur Rehman and Sepoy Aziz.
On February 03, four terrorists were killed, while two soldiers were martyred during an operation in North Waziristan .
According to the ISPR, the security forces observed presence of terrorists in a compound in Mir Ali. 'As soon as the troops cordoned off the area, terrorists opened fire. During intense exchange of fire, four terrorists were killed,' the military's media wing said.
During the conduct of operation, Naib Subedar Aminullah and sepoy Sher Zamin embraced martyrdom, while four soldiers got injured.
February 01, three terrorists were killed in an IBO by the security forces to thwart an infiltration attempt by terrorists close to Pak-Afghan border in Lower Dir.
An exchange of fire happened during the operation during which three terrorists were killed.
On January 21, the security forces during an IBO in Qaddafi area of Utmankhel tehsil in Bajaur tribal district killed two terrorists associated with the banned Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP).
