(MENAFN - Arab Times) "Filipinas especially those working as Household Service Workers (HSWs) are hereby advised not to believe in Facebook posts, chats or messages posted on any social networking site promising jobs in coffee shops but are actually prostitution dens," warned Philippine Consul General Atty Raul H Dado on Wednesday following the rescue recently of eight Filipinas from a suspected sex den in Salmiya by the Philippine Embassy and Kuwait CID



Dado disclosed that the raid carried out by the Kuwaiti authorities has also led to the arrest of an Egyptian national who allegedly ran the sex den. He added that the victims were lured by a certain Filipina with initials RG who worked for the Egyptian suspect in recruiting Filipina HSWs. "She will convince the prospective victim to escape from her employer with the promise of a good pay at a coffee shop which turns out to be a sex den," he pointed out. He warned Filipino nationals to watch job offers on social networking sites being posted by persons whose initials are RG and EG. Dado outlined that the Philippine embassy is bent on helping the victims but admitted that it is a tough legal battle because the victims escaped voluntarily from their employers



With the recent case, Dado posted an advisory on the embassy's Facebook page urging all Filipino nationals especially those who are working at home to heed the following advice



1. If your employer is good and treats you well, finish your contract and don't be lured by any job outside offering a higher pay




2. If you are being maltreated by your employer, ask help from the embassy, media, organisations or your friends via phone, SMS, Facebook or Viber



3. If you cannot contact anyone, you can send SMS to these numbers 69331845, 55952909 or 60015998



4. The embassy will try to locate you and help you. Just take note of your address or any landmark so authorities can reach you immediately



5. If you are overworked, no rest and have experienced labour violations, ask help immediately as stated above



6. Always remember the mobile numbers of your manpower recruitment agency or friends to ask for help



7. Don't be afraid of your employers when they brag of their powerful connection with the Kuwaiti government



8. The Kuwaiti government does not condone in any way an abusive employer



9. If you end up getting lured and trapped in a sex den, ask help as stated above



10. Above all, do not be easily lured by an enticing offer of a high salary and an ambiguous promise of a good job



11. Remember: There are a lot of bogus job offers on Facebook these days



Dado thanked the Kuwaiti authorities for carrying out the raid in the suspected sex den and arresting the suspect. He also called on all Filipinos to look after one another and report to the embassy immediately any distressed national who needs help
