As a Professor of medicine and the assistant dean for clinical investigations at WCM-Q, Dr. Malik has made substantial contributions to the field. A significant portion of his research, comprising 310 papers, focuses on the intricacies of diabetes complications and neurodegenerative diseases.

He has been a pioneer in the utilization of the Corneal Confocal Microscope (CCM), a rapid and non-invasive ophthalmic imaging technique.
