Not only has Dr. Malik been recognized as the leading researcher in Qatar, but he has also secured a position among the top 10,000 researchers in medicine worldwide, according to the Research website list. The rankings are determined through a comprehensive analysis that considers the number of influential research papers authored by the scientist, as well as the accolades, fellowships, and academic recognition they have garnered from esteemed research institutions and government agencies.

As a Professor of medicine and the assistant dean for clinical investigations at WCM-Q, Dr. Malik has made substantial contributions to the field. Over the course of his nine-year tenure at WCM-Q, he has published an impressive portfolio of more than 450 papers. A significant portion of his research, comprising 310 papers, focuses on the intricacies of diabetes complications and neurodegenerative diseases.

Dr. Malik's notable contributions extend beyond his prolific publication record. He has been a pioneer in the utilization of the Corneal Confocal Microscope (CCM), a rapid and non-invasive ophthalmic imaging technique. Through his innovative work, Dr. Malik has harnessed the power of CCM to diagnose and predict the progression of multiple neurodegenerative diseases. These conditions include diabetic neuropathy, hereditary neuropathy, long-COVID, Parkinson's disease, multiple sclerosis, dementia, schizophrenia, autism, and many others.
