At Least 4 People Killed, 14 Injured In Balochistan Explosion

(MENAFN- Khaama Press) At least four people were killed, and 14 injured in a bomb blast that took place in a local market in Barkhan city of Balochistan on Sunday morning, Police officials reported.

Some of the injured were in serious condition and have been moved to the Rakhni Hospital, Barkhan District health Officer Dr. Abdul Hameed said.

Abdullah Khoso, Barkhan Deputy Commission said that an improvised explosive device (IED) had been placed on a motorbike, and it went off in a crowded local market, which resulted in the death injury of scores of civilians.

Mr. Khoso said security personnel have reached the blast site and are looking for evidence, however, no group has claimed the responsibility for the terror attack so far.

Balochistan Chief Minister Mir Abdul Qudoos Bizenjo has condemned the blast and directed the authorities to take all necessary measures to arrest the culprits.

“Those who shed the blood of innocent people are enemies of humanity,” the minister said.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, Foreign Minister Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, and other high-ranking Pakistan politicians have condemned the attack in the strongest terms and called on the country's security agencies to take extra measures against terror groups who are creating chaos and terror among the ordinary people.

Pakistan's Foreign Minister, Bilawal Bhutto Zardari on Twitter said,“terrorists have no religion or nation, they are brutal beasts in human form.”

Furthermore, two police officers were killed and two others critically injured when a bomb attached to a police vehicle went off in Khuzdar city of Balochistan on Saturday. The explosion took place when the vehicle was patrolling the area near Jhalawan Complex.

Since the banned Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) called off its unilateral ceasefire with the Pakistani government in November last year, the militant group has intensified its attacks across Pakistan, in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan in particular in the past months. The militant group has targeted police officers, army personnel, Inter-Service Intelligence (ISI) officials, and innocent civilians.
