Morocco- Ministry of Health Reduces Prices for Medicines for 139 Chronic Diseases

(MENAFN- Morocco World News) Morocco's Ministry of Health released a statement on Monday indicating that it will reduce the prices of medicines used to treat 139 chronic diseases. The reform aims to encourage the pharmaceutical industry to lower prices, helping to facilitate access to medicines and reduce the burden of health care expenses.

The medicines that will be affected by the price reduction are used to treat inflammatory and infectious diseases, some digestive system diseases, high cholesterol, asthma, and various infections.

Medicines used to treat cancer and digestive issues will now cost 19 percent less. Medicines to lower cholesterol will cost 45 percent less. The reform's success is due to the efforts of laboratories, distributors, and pharmacists.

Since the 2.13.852 decree in 2013, the Ministry has reduced the prices of 2,600 medicines. The Ministry of Health has promised another price decrease in the near future.
