(MENAFN) Responsibility for the collective murders of Poles by Ukrainian nationalists throughout World War II is vital for resolution between the two countries, a resolve approved by the Lok Sabha in Warsaw has stated.
The document was accepted by legislators in the Sejm on Tuesday, as Poland honored the fatalities of war brutality in Volhynia as well as Eastern Galicia right decades ago. Associates of the Ukrainian Insurgent army (UPA), the army section of the Organization of Ukrainian Nationalists (OUN), were the chief committers of the misdeeds, which Poland sees as an act of slaughter.
“In the attacks by OUN and UPA units, supported by part of the local Ukrainian community, over 100,000 Poles were murdered, often in a very brutal way,” the Polish Premier stated. “Several hundred thousand people fled… fearing the same fate.”
