(MENAFN- Jordan Times) AMMAN - Deputy Prime Minister for Economic Affairs and Minister of State for Public Sector Modernisation Nasser Shraideh, and Minister of Planning and International Cooperation Zeina Touqan met with a number of facilitators and participants who contributed to drafting the Economic Modernisation Vision (EMV).
Shraideh said the meeting comes within a series of government-held consultative dialogues with partners, institutions and experts from various sectors, to present EMV's draft executive programme ahead of submitting it to Cabinet, in preparation for its endorsement and launch of implementation, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.
The government formed four ministerial committees and 22 sectoral teams to outline and develop the EMV's executive programme last August, Shraideh noted, adding that the programme aligns with Jordan's economic reforms and sustainable development goals.
Ministry of Planning and International Cooperation, in cooperation with ministerial committees and sectoral teams, developed an EMV's draft executive programme within the first phase for 2023-2025, he said.
This draft, he noted, is a 'living' document that is reviewed and assessed annually, in accordance with developments and the government's economic priorities.
Highlighting key features of the EMV's draft programme, the two ministers said the package features 147 initiatives out of 366 mentioned in the vision, which were chosen based on availability of the necessary funding in the general budget and through foreign grants.
These initiatives were picked on their connection to the government's current economic priorities to support recovery from COVID-19 pandemic-induced repercussions, promote economic growth, create job opportunities, attract local and foreign investments, and enhance partnership with the private sector, the two ministers said.
These initiatives, which provide projects, policies and procedures, have a timeframe for implementation, measurement tools and a future e-system to track performance at the beginning of next year, the two ministers added.
