Haqqani: The Taliban Wants To Have Good Relations With The US & The Rest Of International Community

In an interview with CNN, Sirajuddin Haqqani, the acting interior Minister of the Taliban government, stated that they do not regard the United States as an enemy and seek good relations with the rest of the world, particularly the Americans.
“Currently, we do not see them [Americans] as enemies, and we have time and again spoken on diplomacy,” he said in an interview with CNN about Monday, May 16th.
In the future, the acting Taliban interior minister stated, the group would have good relations with the US and other countries.
Haqqani speaks of a shift in attitude toward the US and efforts to improve relations with the US, where he is still wanted by the US Federal Police and a $10 million bounty has been placed for his arrest.
He reiterated that the Taliban are committed to the Doha agreement and that Afghanistan will never pose a terrorist threat to the US.
Regarding the reopening of girls' schools, Haqqani stated that work on a mechanism for girls to return to school is now underway.“We have to create the environment so that we can ensure [the girls'] dignity and safety,” he stated.
“No one is opposed to girls being educated, and the Afghan people will soon hear good news about this,” Haqqani said.
“Schools will be reopened in compliance with the ruling of the Islamic Emirate when the school uniform is designed in accordance with the Afghan law, customs, and culture,” the Ministry of Education said in a statement.
All secondary and high schools for girls would be closed until the“further notice,” according to Uzair Ahmad Rayan, the ministry's director of communications and spokesperson.
