British spies falsify internships to white students

(MENAFN) The UK’s intelligence agencies have come under fire for implementing a policy that excludes white British students from applying for their summer internship programs. Critics, including Conservative MP Chris Philp, have accused MI5, MI6, and GCHQ of engaging in "overt racism" by limiting the internships to ethnic minorities from economically disadvantaged backgrounds.

The internships, which typically offer students hands-on experience in national security, have been open to all applicants in previous years. However, next year’s offerings are only available to those who are "black, black British, Asian, Asian British, Mixed-Heritage," or belong to other ethnic minority groups. The policy also includes restrictions for white applicants, permitting only those from "Romany Gypsy, Scottish, or Irish Traveller" backgrounds.

The agencies argue that this exclusionary policy is “lawful” and aims to attract people from underrepresented groups to intelligence work. However, the decision has sparked controversy, with critics calling for its immediate discontinuation.

This policy echoes a similar controversy within the Royal Air Force, which previously faced legal challenges for prioritizing female and minority candidates over white men for pilot positions.
