Developments At COP29 Offer Great Hope For Resolving Climate Issues - Malaysian Rep
“We are a government agency directly reporting to Malaysia's Ministry of Natural Resources, Environment, and Climate Change. We promote many funding schemes as well as tax incentives for sustainable development projects in Malaysia. We hope that Azerbaijan's chairmanship of COP29 can bring much more clarity to the global climate process, financial solidarity, assessment of loss and damage, adaptation, and, of course, better coordination of actions. The events taking place here give great hope for the resolution of climate issues,” she noted.
The 29th session of the Conference of the Parties to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP29) kicked off in Baku on November 11. The UN Framework Convention on Climate Change is an agreement signed at the Earth Summit in Rio de Janeiro in June 1992 to prevent dangerous human interference in the climate system. The acronym COP (Conference of Parties) stands for“Conference of Parties” and is the highest legislative body overseeing the implementation of the Framework Convention on Climate Change. A total of 198 countries are parties to the Convention. Unless otherwise decided by the parties, COP is held annually. The first COP event was held in March 1995 in Berlin, and its secretariat is located in Bonn.
