Amman, July 20 (Petra) -- An 83-truck convoy of humanitarian aid headed to the Gaza Strip on Saturday carrying food parcels, blankets, clothes and healthcare supplies.
The convoy was dispatched by the Jordan armed forces - Arab army (JAF) and the Jordan Hashemite Charity Organization (JHCO) in cooperation with the World Food Program (WFP) and contributions by the Helping Hand Society, Human Appeal organization and grassroots campaigns.
The aid will be distributed to Gazans through partner associations and organizations in the war-ravaged enclave.
JHCO Secretary-General Hussein Shibli said in a statement that the Jordanian aid effort to the people of Gaza is tremendous, and the donations to the organization from various local, regional and international organizations indicates the trust that Jordan has with various nations, and its ability to deliver aid to the Strip.
A total of 2,694 aid trucks have entered the Gaza Strip so far, in addition to 53 aircraft via Al-Arish Airport, he said, adding that JHCO continues to receive cash donations.
