Iran Calls for Infrastructure Development to Strengthen Trade with Russia

(MENAFN) Gholam-Hossein Shafeie, the Head of the Iran Chamber of Commerce, Industries, Mines and Agriculture (ICCIMA), has emphasized the need to enhance infrastructure development and bolster trade between Iran and Russia. During an Iran-Russia Specialized business forum held alongside the "Russia - Islamic World: Kazan Forum 2023" in Russia, Shafeie highlighted the importance of improving transportation and customs infrastructures to facilitate the growth of bilateral trade.

Shafeie expressed optimism about the positive trajectory of Iran-Russia relations, particularly in the commercial and economic sectors. He anticipated promising future developments and emphasized the mutual benefits that could arise from fostering stronger ties between the two countries. According to the ICCIMA head, Iran possesses significant potential, comparable to Saudi Arabia's oil reserves, Russia's gas reserves, and Australia's mineral reserves. This abundant wealth serves as a valuable asset and a strong foundation for expanding relations with any nation.

Recognizing the immense potential for economic cooperation, Shafeie underlined the importance of leveraging these resources to drive trade and economic growth. He stressed the need for comprehensive efforts to enhance transportation and customs infrastructure, which are critical components in facilitating the smooth flow of goods and services between Iran and Russia. By strengthening these foundations, the two countries can further harness their economic potential and explore new avenues for collaboration.

The call for infrastructure development reflects Iran's commitment to expanding its trade relationships and capitalizing on its strategic geographical location. The nation's rich resources, coupled with the growing bilateral ties between Iran and Russia, create a fertile ground for increased economic cooperation. By investing in infrastructure and streamlining trade processes, Iran aims to unlock new trade opportunities, stimulate economic growth, and foster mutually beneficial partnerships with countries around the world.
