Iran, Tanzania Explore Economic Cooperation in Various Fields

(MENAFN) Gholam-Hossein Shafeie, the head of Iran Chamber of Commerce, Industries, Mines and Trade (ICCIMA), has said that the basis is provided for the expansion of economic cooperation between Iran and Tanzania in various fields. The areas of potential collaboration include agriculture, mining, as well as technical and engineering services. Shafeie made these remarks during a meeting with Latifa M. Khamis, the Director General of Tanzania Trade Development Authority (TanTrade), in Tehran on Tuesday, according to the ICCIMA portal.

Shafeie expressed optimism about the possibilities of Iranian companies investing in Tanzania's technical and engineering services, agricultural machinery, and mining activities. He also underlined the importance of developing relations with African countries as a key strategy of the Iranian government. However, he noted that despite this special view, the level of Iran's relations with this region is currently unfavorable and should be improved.

Khamis, who led a trade delegation to Iran, visited the country to consult with Iranian officials and to identify areas for economic cooperation and investment between the two countries. She stated that her accompanying delegation is seeking to sign memorandums and cooperation agreements with their Iranian counterparts.

The potential expansion of economic cooperation between Iran and Tanzania could have significant implications for both countries and the region as a whole. Tanzania is a relatively new market for Iranian businesses, and increased trade and investment could help boost economic growth and create job opportunities in both countries. Additionally, the development of economic ties with African countries could help Iran diversify its export markets and reduce its dependence on traditional trading partners in Europe and Asia.

Overall, the meeting between Shafeie and Khamis highlights the growing interest in expanding economic cooperation between Iran and African countries. As Iran seeks to overcome the challenges posed by US sanctions, strengthening ties with new markets in Africa could offer new opportunities for growth and development.
