Iran: Red meat output up by 4 percent


(MENAFN) Output of red meat in Iran reached 57,893 tons in the sixth month of the current Iranian calendar year (August 23-September 22), showing four percent growth compared to the same month in the past year.

Beef and veal was the largest in the nation’s red meat production during the same period with 27,764 tons, then lamb and mutton with 25,531 tons, goat meat with 3,667 tons, and red meat from other livestock with 931 tons.

Moreover, the amount of red meat supply in the official slaughterhouses of the nation in the sixth month of 2022 has as well increased four percent in comparison with the fifth month.
Iran is among the main consumers of red meat in the West Asia area with lamb being the most required after.

On the other hand, the use for each person is around a third of what is usually witnessed in nations such as the US and Australia, mainly because of the ban of pork in Islamic law.
