Clash In Afghan Capital Taliban Besieges House In Karta-E-Sakhi Area

According to the Taliban's security officials, they were conducting a clearing operation in the Karta-e-Sakhi area in Kabul, the Afghan capital, when they were shot from a high-rise structure above them.

The Taliban's spokesman for the Kabul Police, Khalid Zadran, said that the group's forces had besieged a residence while the special operation was currently underway.

The Taliban spokesman for Kabul Police made no particular mention of the operation's potential casualties, and the special operation's purpose is also still unknown.

This morning at about 11:30, locals reported hearing gunfire in the Karta-e-Sakhi area in Kabul's third district.

The sound of gunfire can be heard in the Karta-e-Sakhi area on the video footage that has been making the rounds on social media today, Wednesday, August 3.

The operation comes as a US drone attack killed the al-Qaeda leader, Ayman al-Zawahiri, in the Sherpur area of Kabul, a diplomatic enclave where Taliban leaders and commanders reside.

By“hosting and sheltering” the al-Qaeda leader in Kabul, the Taliban administration in Afghanistan is accused of“grossly” violating its commitments to the international community.
