German Experts Check On GAM Experience In Urban Planning, Housing

Amman, July 3 (Petra)--Director of the City in the Greater Amman Municipality (GAM), Ahmad Malkawi, stressed the need to deploy new methods of sustainable urban planning and housing in Amman that are more effective and feasible to implement and provide the best services to the city's residents.
At the conclusion of a joint workshop with a group of German experts for the Digital Cities Project, Malkawi underlined the importance of exchanging expertise and leveraging the German experience in updating a modern holistic plan for Amman that aligns with the development of the city's modernity and transforms it into a smart city while preserving its originality and heritage.
The German experts met with the city's deputy director for planning affairs, Rama Al-Azza, who briefed them on the Amman 2022-2026 strategic plan, as well as the holistic and urban planning, organization, acquisition and building licenses in Amman, and highlighted tasks of the planning sector departments and projects under implementation.
Participants in the workshop from GAM's planning sector presented working papers that included challenges of providing infrastructure, services, organization and public spaces, as well as a presentation on the systematic scheme for the development of the local community and projects under implementation in Amman.
The Executive Director of Planning, Mazen Al-Kurdi, valued the assistance provided within the joint cooperation with the German side.
He also pointed out to that GAM enjoys expertise and competencies in urban planning.
