Doha: Qatar swimmers yesterday signed off with another impressive medal haul at the GCC Games as Al Annabi athletes continued their hunt for medals in Kuwait.

Qatar's Yousef Hassan produced a brilliant show in the men's 200m backstroke final at the Sheikh Nasser Al Mohammed Aquarium Complex as he won the gold with a new GCC record of 2:09.62.

The silver medal was won by Saudi Arabia's Ali Alessa in 2:11.82 as Qatar's Abdalla Elghamry finished third. Despite coming third in the second final, Elghamry's time of 2:12.02 was not enough for him to secure the bronze as he was ranked fourth in the overall timesheet.

Later, Abdulaziz Al Obaidly who had already won two gold medals at this year's GCC Games, added one more medal to his personal collection.

This time it was a silver medal for the 20-year-old Al Obaidly.

Mohammed clinched his bronze in 52.88 secs as Qatari swimmers ended their GCC Games campaign with 18 medals (3 gold, 8 silver and 7 bronze).

The gold medal in his event was clinched by the home star Waleed Abdulrazzaq (50.96) while UAE's Yousuf Almatrooshi won the silver (51.12)
