(MENAFN) American mobile networks AT&T and Verizon confirmed their postponement of launching the latest 5G service at a number of airports.
The C-band service, providing faster pace and greater space, was supposed to start tomorrow.
However, airlines in the nation supported the delay of launching the new service, cautioning of the effects the signals could have on the plane’s navigation system.
Telecommunication companies were upset with the decision, as they accepted limiting their launch.
AT&T reported it was "temporarily" accepting the launch at a "limited number of towers around certain airport runways". Watchdogs had “two years” to initiate the rollout of 5G service, it further said.
AT&T included in a report, “We are frustrated by the Federal Aviation Administration's inability to do what nearly 40 countries have done, which is to safely deploy 5G technology without disrupting aviation services, and we urge it do so in a timely manner.”
