Some 29 COVID-19-related fatalities confirmed in Morocco, 9 others in Algeria


(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) RABAT, Sept 23 (KUNA) -- At least 29 patients succumbed to COVID-19, and 2,397 new infections were reported in 24 hours in Morocco.
These figures took the caseload to 107,743, and death toll to 1,918, the Moroccan Health Ministry said Wednesday.
The ministry added that up to 2,361 people recovered from the virus in the same period, raising the total to 88,244.
It further noted that some 17,581 patients, including 281 at ICUs, are being treated at hospitals.
Meanwhile, Algeria's Health Ministry reported nine related-virus deaths and 186 new cases in the last day.
The overall infections and deaths rose to 50,400 and 1,698 respectively, Dr. Djamel Fourar, the spokesperson for COVID-19 Monitoring and Follow-up Committee, said during a news conference.
However, the number of recoveries rose by 121 to 35,428, he added, indicating that 25 patients are currently at ICUs. (end)
