Bollywood celebrities to be in Qatar for May Queen Ball

Doha: Bollywood actor Jaaved Jaaferialong with his brother and popular host Naved Jafri will be in Qatar for the 19th annual May Queen Ball on April 25. Joining the two will be music director Longinus Fernandes (Longie) and singer Lorna Cordeiro.

The show organised by Goan Welfare Association along with Orbit Events will be held at Radisson Blu from 7.30 pm onwards.

"The highlight of the event will be crowning of the 19th May Queen by the Bollywood celebrities. Winners will be gifted with fabulous prizes like gold necklace, airline tickets, wrist watches, electronic items, five star overnight and meal vouchers, cosmetic sets and many more valuables," says Goan Welfare Association president, Simon D'Silva.

Celebrated live band from Goa will be another highlight of the show along with music director Norman Cardozo, saxophone maestro Joaquim De Souza and ace compere Updesh Swar.

Known for donning various hats - actor, dancer, singer, choreographer, VJ, Emcee, ad filmmaker - Javed Jafri has acted in over 40 films, both Indian and international, till date.

Javed has performed in over 200 live shows in India and abroad and shared the stage with Michael Jackson, Sting, Spice Girls and Queen and top Bollywood stars like Amitabh Bachchan, Aamir Khan, Shahrukh Khan, A R Rahman, Anil Kapoor, ShankarEhsaanLoy and others.

Naved is an writer and director, best known for his work as television host. The two brothers directed a dance reality show that went on to become one of the longest running shows in India in 1996.

Another celebrity to be at the Ball is Bollywood music director and choreographer Longinus Fernandes (Longie).

Lorna Cordeiro, Nightingale of Goa who travels all over the world to perform her shows will be in Doha. Lorna's biggest hit songs are Bebdo, Red Rose, Pisso, Calangute, Adeus, Lisboa and many others.

After 18 successful years of organization, May Queen contest is open to all nationalities from the age of 17 to 40 and marital status is not mandatory. Simon D'Silva, president of Goan Welfare Association said that this is an opportunity for ladies always eager to partake in the contest.
