Kuwait: Committed To Renewable Energy, Sustainable Future


(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) KUWAIT, Jan 26 (KUNA) -- Kuwait is committed to expanding in renewable energy projects, Minister of Electricity, Water and Renewable Energy Dr. Salem Al-Hajraf said on Friday.
The target is using a minimum of 15 percent of electricity at prime-time from renewable sources by 2030, noted Al-Hajraf, who doubles as state minister for housing affairs, in a press release marking the International Clean Energy Day.
In this regard, he stressed intent to accelerate the implementation of Al-Shaqaya Renewable Energy Project; with production capacity of 4,500 megawatts through solar energy, leading to a sustainable future for the country.
The UN General Assembly adopted January 26 of each year as International Clear Energy Day, which is concerned with promoting awareness around the world by working for a complete transition to clean energy. (end) mrv
