Russia Offers High Salaries To Make Military Service Increasingly Lucrative Uk Intel

(MENAFN- UkrinForm) Despite high salaries and additional benefits, which are a strong incentive for those from the poorer areas of Russia to join up, Moscow is still unlikely to meet its targets for recruiting volunteers to the ranks.

The relevant statement was made by the Ministry of Defence of the United Kingdom on the social media platform X , referring to the latest Defence Intelligence update, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.

According to the British intelligence, military service in Russia's armed forces has become increasingly lucrative since the invasion.

On February 4, 2022 Russian President Vladimir Putin noted that a lieutenant received RUB 81,200 per month. By October 2022, he announced that even mobilised private soldiers would receive RUB 195,000 per month.

“It is highly likely that the salary and additional benefits are a strong incentive for personnel to join up, especially to those from the poorer areas of Russia. However, Russia is still unlikely to meet its targets for recruiting volunteers to the ranks,” the report states.

Many junior ranks serving in Ukraine are now on over RUB 200,000 per month. This is over 2.7 times the Russian national average salary of RUB 72,851, the UK intelligence noted.
