Uk Sanctions Ex-Chief Of Lebanese Central Bank


(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) LONDON, Aug 10 (KUNA) -- The UK on Thursday imposed sanctions on former governor of Lebanon's central bank Riad Salameh and three associates for alleged involvement in unlawful actions.
The sanctions, which came against the backdrop of funneling USD 300 million, was imposed in coordination with the US and Canada, the UK Foreign Office said in a press release.
They include a freeze on their assets and travel ban, it said, adding that Riad Salameh, his brother Raja, Marianne Hoayek and Anna Kosakova are involved in unlawful actions.
It claimed that the four had enriched themselves at the expense of the Lebanese people. (end)
