City Centre Doha Hosts Exhibit Showcasing 40 Rare Carpets

Doha, Qatar: City Centre Doha, the first grand mall in Qatar has revealed its latest activity for this season, a unique and special exhibition for all the carpet enthusiasts out there.

The carpets are brought to City Centre Doha from The Sheikh Faisal Bin Qassim Al Thani Carpet Museum, which is an iconic landmark for history enthusiasts since its inception in 2014.

The exhibition entitled“Beyond The Threads & Knots” features over 40 rare carpets and is currently located in City Centre Doha on the 3rd floor in the Arabian Court and will run until June 28.

Meanwhile, as a bonus, the uniqueness of the exhibition is further enhanced by the incorporation of variety, showing different carpets, rugs, and saddle textiles for camels and horses from various regions such as China, Iran, Turkiye, the Caucasus, and Europe during the Ottoman era. The exhibit highlights the intricacy of the carpet-making techniques and the geographical origins of the rugs. With the carpets categorised by themes, it makes it much easier for viewers to appreciate the carpets' aesthetics and symbolism, as natural motifs such as the tree of life and animals, are woven into the carpets fabric.
