Three Daesh Militants Killed In In Kirkuk

(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) IRBIL, May 5 (KUNA) -- The Joint Operations Command declared on Friday that three members of the so-called "Islamic State" had been killed in a military operation in the south of Kirkuk governorate in northern Iraq.
The command information apparatus said in a statement that security forces carried an air strike in Wadi Al-Shai, demolishing a number of hideouts and killing "three terrorists." The regular forces seized and confiscated equipment, hand-grenades and some cash money.
The US-commanded international coalition had declared that recurrent attacks by the IS, named in Arabic as Daesh, had noticeably subsided over the past months.
Iraqi regular and paramilitary forces launched a wide-scale military operation in 2017, crushing Daesh' main strongholds in the city of Mosul.
However, the militants, many of whom had fled after the battle for Mosul to remote and desert regions, have been launching sporadic hit-and-run attacks since then. (end)
