Anti-apartheid campaigners call for Netanyahu's arrest for war crimes

(MENAFN) Anti-apartheid campaigners have called for the arrest of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu for war crimes as he met with British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak at 10 Downing Street in London. The International Center of Justice for Palestinians has called on the British government to refer Israel to the International Criminal Court for war crimes in Palestine.

The Friends of Al-Aqsa, a UK-based non-governmental organization concerned with defending the human rights of Palestinians and protecting the Al-Aqsa sanctuary, accused Netanyahu of violating the laws of war several times during his 15-year tenure as Israeli prime minister, thereby constituting war crimes under international law.

The organization alleged that Netanyahu had overseen the ethnic cleansing of Palestinian towns and villages and the targeted killing of Palestinian men, women, and children living under illegal Israeli occupation. The group held him accountable for these war crimes, said Shamiul Joarder, head of public affairs at FOA.

The ongoing conflict between Israel and Palestine has resulted in the loss of countless lives and has had a devastating impact on the region. The international community must work towards promoting greater dialogue and cooperation to achieve a peaceful resolution to the conflict and to ensure that all parties adhere to international law and respect human rights.

The call for Netanyahu's arrest highlights the importance of accountability for war crimes and the need for justice to be served. The international community must continue to uphold the principles of international law and hold accountable those who violate them, regardless of their status or position.
