Drones strike Kiev government offices

(MENAFN) A Russian drone strike in Kiev on Wednesday damaged two government buildings, according to Kirill Timoshenko, deputy head of Ukraine's presidential office.

According to Sergey Popko, the chief of Ukraine's military administration, Kiev was targeted by "two waves of hostile drone assaults," during which air defense troops destroyed 13 UAVs.

“The parts of downed drones have hit an administrative building, while four residential buildings were also slightly damaged,” Popko stated. He also highlighted that no one was injured.

The Russian Defense Ministry has yet to comment on the situation. In recent months, Moscow has increased its strikes in Ukraine, with the Defense Ministry claiming that it solely targets military locations and energy infrastructure used for military reasons, such as powering the transit of troops and equipment to the front lines.

Russian President Vladimir Putin has stated that the operations were carried out in reaction to "terrorist assaults" on Russian soil, notably the October bombing of a critical bridge in Crimea.

Meanwhile, Russian officials have blamed Ukrainian soldiers of heavy bombardment of civilians. On Saturday night, rockets hit a hotel and a restaurant complex in Melitopol, killing two people, according to authorities. On Sunday, officials in Donetsk claimed that at least five people, including two children, had been hurt.
