Turkey's Ordu, Israeli Eco Wave Power sign deal to build wave energy plant

(MENAFN) Turkey's Ordu Municipality, a northern district placed in Black Sea coast, inked a deal with Israeli firm Eco Wave Power for glob’s biggest and Turkey’s initial wave energy plant venture, Israel Embassy to Türkiye declared on its Twitter account on Thursday.

Israeli Eco Wave Power and OREN Ordu Energy, a subsidiary of the municipality, inked the contract.

When finished, the plant will have a maximum installed capacity of 77 megawatts, making it the "biggest wave energy plant in the world," according to the Embassy.

The plant, which is expected to cost $150 million, will be built in the Black Sea coast city of Ordu.

After the applicable pilot or power station is activated, OREN will award Eco Wave Power nine potentially viable breakwaters for a 25-year term.

The power plant will be built and put into service by Eco Wave Power, and the company will be in charge of selling the electricity it produces in accordance with a site-specific production quota that has been established.
