President of Qatar Press Center Saad bin Mohammed Al Rumaihi has said that fans will be best messengers in presenting the real picture of Qatar in hosting FIFA World Cup 2022.
He also lauded local media for giving best coverage to the events and activities of mega sporting event.
Al Rumaihi was speaking to media persons on the sidelines of a panel discussion 'The Unfair View of Some Western Media Towards Qatar's Organising FIFA World Cup 2022' organised by Qatar Press Center and Qatar News Agency (QNA) at the headquarters of the Center.
“Millions of fans who came to Qatar from all over the world will present the real picture of the country and first hand information about what they experienced in form of best arrangements of the World Cup when they go back to their counties,” said Rumaihi.
He said that as the World Cup is approaching to an end now, the picture is very much clear for citizens, expatriates and fans who came from all over the World, about the propaganda and malicious campaigns against Qatar hosting the mega sporting event.
“I believe that almost all people including media outlets, players and fans must have fond contrary to what was said about Qatar's hosting the World Cup after they witnessed the rich Arab culture, tradition, hospitality and generosity of Qatari citizens, expatriates and Arab people,” said Rumaihi.
Speaking about the coverage of World Cup by local media, he said that local media – electronic and print – including English and Arabic are playing great job in covering events and activities of FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022.
He said that the newspapers are providing full documentation of the event on daily basis which deserved to be stored in archive for sweet memory and history.
Demonstrating the landmark achievements of Qatar in hosting the mega sporting event, Rumaihi said:“Qatar which started preparations for hosting FIFA World Cup 2022 with one stadium in 2010 had readied all eight stadiums and other facilities ahead of the schedule in record time fulfilling its all commitment to FIFA.”
He said that Qatar with this huge arrangements for the World Cup delivered a message to the world that nothing is impossible for a country if it has determination and works with dedication for hosting such mega sporting events.
Speaking about response from Qatar to the campaigns and criticisms against FIFA World Cup 2022, he said:“We are hosting this penal discussion at this time as we were waiting that the mega sporting event to reach an advance stage giving very clear picture to those participated in covering this event. Like fulfilment by Qatar of its promises that were made with FIFA and now the World Cup meets the aspiration of citizens and expatriates in Qatar.”
He said that without any doubt Qatar hosted very unique FIFA World Cup so far not only according to him but for a large number of people who gave their feedback to him and through local and international media outlets.
“These huge achievements in hosting the World Cup show that Qatar deserves very much in organising such mega sporting event and represents Arab people who flooded the country for enjoying the World Cup matches and stood by Qatar,” said Rumaihi.
To a question about hosting international media, he said that Qatar Press Center has planned to bring foreign media to discuss the hosting of FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 in coming days.
President of Qatar Press Center said that the event aimed at holding a discussion on the mega sporting event which is being held for the first time in Arab region.
He said that some Arab countries had tried to host the World Cup but luck did not favour them.“Finally Qatar won the right on December 2, 2010 to host FIFA World Cup 2022. Since then some media outlets started criticising Qatar's hosting the World Cup,” said Al Rumaihi.
However, he said, Qatar which received overwhelming support from Arab countries hosted the most successful and unique FIFA World Cup so far.
“Arab people know very well that Qatar and Arab countries deserve to host such mega sporting event like other people and nations of the world and the people refuted the perspective of those thinking that World Cup is monopoly for certain people or nations,” said Al Rumaihi.
