Russian Missile Attack Causes Temporary Blackout Of All Npps, Most Thermal Power Plants, Hydropower Plants


(MENAFN- UkrinForm) Russia's massive missile attack on November 23 led to a temporary blackout of all nuclear power plants, most thermal power plants and hydropower plants across Ukraine. Electric power transmission facilities were also damaged.

'Today's missile attack led to the temporary blackout of all nuclear power plants, most thermal power plants and hydropower plants. Power transmission facilities were also affected,' the press service of the Ministry of Energy of Ukraine posted on facebook .

It is noted that the vast majority of electricity consumers across the country were cut off as a result of the enemy attack.

'Emergency shutdowns occur. The lack of electricity can affect the availability of heat and water supply,' the Ministry of Energy warns.

The Ministry emphasizes that energy workers are already working and doing everything possible to restore the electricity supply as soon as possible.

'However, given the scale of the damage, it will take time,' the Ministry of Energy says.

As frequency decreased in the energy system of Ukraine, emergency protection was activated at the Rivne NPP, the South Ukraine NPP, and the Khmelnytskyi NPP, and all power plants automatically shut down.

On November 23, the Russians once again hit Ukraine's energy infrastructure. Currently, there are emergency power outages across Ukraine, water supply is missing in some regions.
