The streaming giant Netflix may now be considering expanding its services by providing live-streaming services. Netflix acknowledged that the proposal is still in the works. It will host a variety of unscripted shows including stand-up specials and reality shows. The live-streaming facility will come in use to collect votes when it comes to dancing or singing programs.
Netflix might even utilize it if it decides to relaunch the Netflix Is A Joke festival. Around 300 stand-up comedians performed across Los Angeles, including Dave Chappelle, Larry David, and Pete Davidson. Even though Netflix has never dealt with this type of content, they are open to experimenting.
Netflix live-streaming proposal
Apart from the rise of interactive programming, several of their reality shows have also served as a testbed for experimenting with release dates. Trivia Quest, an interactive game show that ran every day in April, is the most recent example. Another similar example could be the episodes of The Circle coming out weekly rather than at once. This new live-streaming trial is likely concerning Netflix losing customers for the first time in ten years during a quarter this year.
The long-running ABC program Dancing with the Stars is moving to Disney Plus this fall, according to Disney Plus. It will be the first live broadcast for Disney Plus. Netflix's live streaming service will bring it in step with conventional networks which frequently broadcast live specials for major competition programs. Another concern is whether Netflix will limit itself to stand-up comedy and reality shows or will they follow in the footsteps of Amazon Prime and start broadcasting live sports as well.
