An islandwide curfew, which was lifted yesterday, will be re-imposed at 8pm tonight.
The President's Media Division said that the curfew will be lifted at 5am tomorrow.
The curfew was lifted last morning to allow the public to celebrate the Vesak festival.
However, the President's Office said the curfew will be re-imposed at 8pm tonight.
The curfew was imposed on Monday after a mob attacked peaceful protesters at Galle Face and near Temple Trees.
Violence later broke out in several parts of the country with mobs taking revenge over the attack at Galle Face and near Temple Trees. (Colombo Gazette)
