China: Yiwu witnesses increase in imports through cargo train route connecting Europe


(MENAFN) According to the customs authority, the cargo train route connecting the Chinese small commodity hub of Yiwu with Europe has imported commodities 56 times over the very period of 2020.

The General Administration of Customs said that the whole import and export value of commodities managed by the route reached 16.63 billion yuan (USD2.58 billion) in the January-May period, a rise by 193 percent annually.

Of the whole volume, exports hit about USD2,13 billion, a rise by 144.6 percent annually, whereas imports reached about USD444 million, 56 times more than the very period in the prior year.

The key import and export goods comprise mechanical and electrical produce, consumer commodities and textiles and garments.
