(MENAFN- Tribal News Network) PESHAWAR: Three fresh deaths from coronavirus were reported in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on Sunday morning and one of the victims was the 71-year-old person who celebrated his 71st birthday on the hospital bed.
Few days earlier, the video of a 71-year-old person went viral on the social media in which he cut his birthday cake on the bed in Hayatabad Medical Complex (HMC) Peshawar. The video was shared on the social media which went viral within no time. He was on ventilator for the last few days and died on Sunday morning.
A large number of people had liked the video on social media and in their comments appreciated the doctors for fulfilling the wish of the elderly patient.
The two other deceased belonged to Nowshera. One of the deceased was a laboratory technician.
Focal Person in Nowshera Dr Zahid said Arshid Shakeel, a resident of Shedo area of Nowshera, died during treatment at a private hospital in Islamabad. Kashif Khan Qazi, a young laboratory assistant in Qazi Medical Complex, who was a resident of Khat Killi in Nowshera, also lost his battle to coronavirus.
Nowshera is among the areas in KP which are most affected from coronavirus. The district has reported 28 deaths from coronavirus so far. As many as 502 coronavirus cases have been reported in Nowshera so far including 44 during the last 24 hours. So far, 162 people have recovered from the disease.
Nowshera is also more vulnerable to coronavirus due to its proximity to the capital city of Peshawar, which is by and far the worst hit city in KP. The reason behind more cases in Peshawar is that patients from all parts of the province are brought to the metropolis for treatment. Large-scale movement to Peshawar from all the districts of KP also continues on daily basis which exposes the residents of the city to the virus threat.
Another reason behind more cases and deaths in Nowshera is that all people are not following the standard operating procedures (SOPs) in shopping markets, social gatherings and in mosques. Very few people are seen wearing the facemasks and using hand sanitizers, while the majority are found careless in this regard.
