Qatar University's QTTSC holds workshop


(MENAFN- The Peninsula) Doha: As part of the continuous efforts to implement the Qatar National Traffic Safety Action Plan (2018-2022), the Qatar Transportation and Traffic Safety Center (QTTSC), which is part of Qatar University's College of Engineering (QU-CENG), in collaboration with the International Road Federation, hosted a training workshop on Road Traffic Safety Management (RTSM).

The workshop aimed to provide information on the elements of the RTSM system, including institutional management, interventions and results. Furthermore, the workshop addressed the requirements of ISO 39001 standards and discussed the impact of RTSM on business and operational performance.

Participants learned about RTSM institutional processes, procedures to perform capacity review through practical examples and group exercises, management of fleet safety programs and the application of different tools to support RTSM related processes.

More than 35 participants from the National Traffic Safety Committee, senior engineers from General Directorate of Traffic, Ministry of Municipality and Environment, as well as from a variety of engineering consultation companies and contractors participated in the workshop. 

Susanna Zammataro, Director General of the International Road Federation and Martin Heath, Technical Director of RTSM Global Limited and member of the ISO 39001 British Standards Working Group RTS/1 delivered the workshop. Khatib & Alami Engineering Consultation Company co-sponsored this course as part of their commitment to support the efforts for improving traffic safety in Qatar.
