Myanmar jumps 3.15 percent in tourism arrivals

(MENAFN) Myanmar witnessed its tourism sector flourish as it recorded a 3.15 percent surge in its arrivals by the end of 2018.

According to the Hotel and Tourism Ministry, Myanmar welcomed more than 3.55 million tourists last year with Chinese visitors alone accounting for 297,400 of those guests.

China snatched the first rank of Asian arrivals, with Thailand amounting for 291,231 of the tourists, the ministry confirmed on Saturday.

It comes as the country started providing visa exemption to Japan and South Korea along with a visa-on-arrival to China.
