UK names new Yemen envoy


(MENAFN) Commenting on the appointment of Aron as the UK new envoy to Yemen, UK Foreign Secretary Boris Johnson 0n Friday said,"The UK is working tirelessly to support the people of Yemen through these difficult times in their history. We are clear that a political solution to the conflict and an end to the humanitarian suffering is the only way forward if we are to see the stable and prosperous future that the people of Yemen deserve."

Johnson added, "Michael has extensive experience serving the UK as ambassador, most recently to Sudan and Libya. I look forward to working together with him to help establish a peaceful and stable future for Yemen."

Aron, already been British ambassador to Libya, Iraq and Kuwait, said, 'I am honored to be the new British Ambassador to Yemen. " I look forward to working with Yemenis, regional and international partners and all parties to the conflict, in support of a peaceful, stable and secure Yemen.'

Since March 2015, the Saudi coalition has heavily bombed Yemen as part of a brutal campaign against its southern neighbor to regain power to the resigned president Abd Rabbo Mansour Hadi, a loyal ally of Riyadh.

The war with the Saudi-collision from a side and the Houthies militias from another have resulted on killing hundreds of thousands, wounding thousand not to mention those displaced in the war-torn country.
