Ireland's Aer Lingus operating profits hit USD141m in Q3

(MENAFN) Aer Lingus, Ireland's national carrier, posted operating profits of USD141 million in the third-quarter period, increasing 19 percent on-year, Xinhua reported.

Revenue of the cargo also surged by 13.9 percent in the July-September period, reaching USD637.42 million from USD559.68 million registered in the same period last year.

The airline attributed the increase to the growth on its long haul routes, primarily to the US, which was strong with revenues from long haul passengers up 34 percent to USD220.26 million.

It also said revenues on its short haul routes increased by 5.5 percent to USD343.16 million from USD325.27 million. The figures marked the best results since the financial crisis of 2008.
