(MENAFN- The Rio Times) The Andean Community (CAN) is set to unveil "Caminos Andinos," a digital platform showcasing eight iconic tourist routes in Bolivia.
CAN Secretary General Gonzalo Gutiérrez announced this initiative, aiming to revitalize regional tourism after the pandemic's impact. "Caminos Andinos" will highlight diverse Bolivian attractions, from Amazonian landscapes to the Uyuni salt flats.
The platform, launching in March 2025, represents a collaborative effort among Bolivia, Colombia, Ecuador, and Peru to promote the Andean region as a unified destination.
Tourism significantly contributes to Andean economies, accounting for 2% of GDP and 3.8 million jobs in 2024. The sector welcomed 11.6 million non-resident visitors that year, with women occupying 52% of tourism jobs in Latin America.
Small businesses dominate the Andean tourism landscape, with 80% of enterprises being micro, small, or medium-sized. This structure underscores the sector's importance for local economies and job creation.

The platform will offer comprehensive information about each route, including transportation details and local services. CAN officials worked closely with Bolivian authorities to select featured destinations, ensuring alignment with national tourism strategies.
By promoting diverse routes, "Caminos Andinos" aims to distribute tourism benefits across Bolivia , potentially boosting local economies and creating job opportunities. The initiative could serve as a model for regional tourism cooperation, inspiring similar projects elsewhere in Latin America.
As the tourism industry recovers, "Caminos Andinos" represents a step towards rebuilding visitor numbers while promoting sustainable and diverse experiences.
Its success could significantly impact Bolivia's economic recovery and long-term tourism strategy, offering valuable insights for stakeholders in the travel and hospitality sectors.
